Vision Zero Street Lab Installation

A series of traffic safety and speed reduction measures are being installed in Callingwood South as part of the City of Edmonton's Vision Zero Street Lab program.

Installation will begin in August and is expected to be complete by the end of September.

WHAT IS BEING INSTALLED?

ASPHALT SPEED TABLE

On select roads, speed tables help to curb excessive traffic volume and risky speeds, increasing community safety. They have been shown to reduce speeds by up to 13 km/h and cut shortcutting.

CURB EXTENSION

Curb extensions are just that.. they extend the curb into the roadway, forcing drivers to slow down, thus increasing visibility and reducing the crossing distance for pedestrians.

WHERE IS THIS HAPPENING?

CURB EXTENSIONS

  • 172 Street and 67 Avenue
  • 172 Street and 63 Avenue
  • 172 Street north of Callingwood Road
  • 64 Avenue west of 170 Street

SPEED TABLES

  • 64 Avenue between 178 Street and 177 Street
  • 64 Avenue between 177 Street and 172 Street
